“Healthcare is a Human Right

Healthcare is a human right for all, never a privilege to be reserved for the wealthy few. It is time to expand health care to all in need and take on big pharma to bring down prescription drug prices. As Donald Trump threatens to upend healthcare coverage for millions of Americans, we must fight back and push forward:

-Expand Medicaid to cover all Americans who do not have health insurance.

-No cuts to Medicaid for the 80 million seniors, people with disabilities, and children who would be devastated by Trump’s plan.

-Increase funding to Planned Parenthood and women’s health clinics in states like Illinois where abortion is legal that are providing critical care to more women than ever before.

-Leverage Medicare’s buying power to bring down prescription drug prices for everyone. “

”HEALTHCARE AS A HUMAN RIGHT

I got my healthcare as a kid through Medicaid, so to me, Republicans’ attacks on our healthcare are deeply personal.

In Congress, I’ll fight back as Republicans rip away healthcare from over 300,000 Illinoisians to fund tax breaks for billionaires. But we can’t stop there. We must recognize the failings of our current system.

People would rather take an Uber to the hospital than take an ambulance for fear of the healthcare bill they’ll receive. What does that say about us?

Healthcare is a human right. And in the wealthiest nation on Earth, there is no excuse for working-class people to pay more for health insurance than every other developed country. It’s why I will proudly sponsor the Medicare for All Act, which is the fundamental change we need to lower costs and get people the healthcare they need.

Ensuring that no one is denied treatment due to financial hardship is not only the right thing to do, it makes good economic sense. Universal healthcare allows people to prioritize prevention and early intervention treatments over expensive emergency care. In the wealthiest country in the world, there is no excuse for working-class people to pay more for health insurance than any other major developed country on Earth.

In addition, I’ll fight to protect access to life-saving healthcare, particularly for our LGBTQ+ community, and ensure that access is not incumbent on employment status, race, gender, sexuality, or disability.”

“Healthcare

Families in Illinois’ 8th District deserve affordable, accessible, high-quality care—without fear of losing coverage, being denied care because of pre-existing conditions, or having politicians interfere in personal medical decisions.

As a member of Congress, Melissa Bean proudly voted for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). She supported expanding access to affordable healthcare, strengthening employer-based coverage, and protecting Medicare. She opposed efforts to roll back patient protections and worked to reduce costs while improving quality of care. Melissa Bean will:

• Protect and strengthen the Affordable Care Act, including ironclad protections for pre-existing conditions and extending tax credits that have lowered premiums for thousands of families in Illinois’ 8th District.

• Lower overall health care costs by pursuing reforms throughout the system and continue to allow Medicare to negotiate directly to lower prescription drug prices.

• Reverse the Republican Medicaid cuts that jeopardize our hospitals, reduce coverage, and increase overall costs for the system that families in Illinois’ 8th District will incur.”

“Healthcare, Living & Aging with Dignity

I support protecting every individual’s right to healthcare privacy and access to medical care. I believe all Americans deserve the legal and structural protections to live their best lives. As a military mom, I will fight to uphold every commitment made to our military families and veterans.

-Treat healthcare as a right — including mental healthcare.

-Protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, and veterans’ programs for current and future generations.

-Expand options for subsidized, part-time in-home care for seniors and people with disabilities.

Inspired by caring for my mother with muscular dystrophy, I will fight for dignity in aging and disability care.”

Healthcare

-Neil Khot is committed to making quality healthcare accessible and affordable by solving systemic problems. We are facing a doctor shortage driven by outdated, artificial federal limits.

-We will protect ACA subsidies

-We will fix the healthcare workforce crisis by immediately lifting the cap on federally funded medical residencies, allowing hospitals, states, and charitable networks to fund the training of thousands of new doctors.

-We will charter a bipartisan accreditation board to reform the existing system and break the ACGME monopoly, enabling faster, smarter growth in our medical workforce.

-We will protect every American's earned benefits and vote to safeguard Medicare and Medicaid.

“Strengthening Medicaid and expanding access to affordable health and mental health care

-Our health care system is broken – and it’s been this way for far too long.

In Congress, I’ll support achieving Universal Healthcare by first creating a public health insurance option for all Americans to ensure everyone can afford and access high quality health care, and I’ll relentlessly hold health insurance companies and Big Pharma accountable for their role in making health care costs for Americans so incredibly expensive.  I’ll also be a fierce advocate for expanding access to mental and behavioral health care and incentivising individuals to pursue jobs in the health care field without the fear of accruing tens to hundreds of thousands in debt that they will never pay off, which includes   increasing wages for so many who are underpaid in the  health care workforce.

It’s also critical that Democrats win back the House and the Senate to not only reverse the Trump administration’s devastating cuts to Medicaid before they happen – we also must expand Medicaid to cover even more working families and fight to expand and strengthen the Affordable Care Act, which Donald Trump and his Republican allies have desperately sought to gut for years.”

“Healthcare

Healthcare is a human right. I support policies such as Medicare for All that offer universal healthcare care for all citizens, and as these plans give the government leverage to bring down costs of prescription drugs and routine tests and procedures. We must also restore Medicaid to the fullest extent possible to ensure those who need care are covered.

While everyone in our country should be covered by a universal healthcare system, we should also allow for commercial availability of private supplemental options for those who choose to pay out-of-pocket for their care.

I will advocate for investing in expanded access to preventive medicine and healthcare access, and I will support robust funding for medical research, including at the NIH and at university campuses across the country, to ensure the health of generations to come.”
